bells and balls

July 27, 2011

In looking back yesterday while doing my seven links post it appears that I always seem to post a workout on Wednesday. I guess I will stick with that because this past Saturday Keith wrote yet another awesome workout to kill me with and I would hate to be the only one in so much pain. See? I am always thinking of you.

Bells and Balls

2 hand kettlebell swing (20)

Stability ball russian twist (20)

Med. ball squats (30)

Sprint 1 minute (level 10)

REPEAT 3 TIMES

1 KB clean & reverse lunge (10 each leg)

Diver crunches (20)

Med. Ball sit ups (ball to shins) (20)

1 minutes of fast jumping jacks (try to get 80+ reps)

REPEAT 3 TIMES

1 KB snatch, decelerate and squat (10 each leg)

Stability ball roll outs (20)

Walking lunges with a med. ball high-low chop (10 each leg)

REPEAT 3 TIMES

This was a hard workout. I highly recommend it if you can get your hands on some kettlebells. Truth? I liked it so much I did it again yesterday morning. I know. I know. But it really will make you feel like a million bucks afterward. Maybe a sweaty millions bucks but a million all the same.

Do you repeat workouts that you like or just do them once and move on?

my seven links

July 26, 2011

I know most of you have seen this fun little post hopping around the blog world and Julie, Heather and Jocelyn all nominated me to so let’s get to it!

Most Beautiful Post

I think my most beautiful post was the one where I wrote a letter to my younger self. It was called Dear 15 Year Old Kelly and it was a very honest letter of all the things I would go back and tell myself; all the things I would do differently and the things that would turn out okay. It was a hard letter to write because it forced to me to be extremely honest with myself.

Most Popular Post

The post I wrote called I Want To Be A Mom has been my most popular post. I openly discussed mine and Keith’s fertility problems and how much I wanted to be a mom one day. As an update…we are still trying to figure it all out. Fertility treatment is EXPENSIVE when you are self employed and have individual health insurance. We’re doing all we can do within our budget right now and practicing…a lot! ha!

Most Controversial Post

I haven’t really had many controversial posts but I did write a post called The Heavy Religion Post in which I talked about my religious views. Keith and I are Jewish and while most people really respected my opinions and beliefs I did get a few emails from people wanting to “show me the way to Jesus” and that wasn’t so fun. 🙂

Most Helpful Post

Ironically I think the most helpful post I ever wrote for me and for my readers was called Rest In Peace and it was when Keith and I made the painful decision to put our dog, Kodi, to sleep. It helped me to write out my feelings and grieve and a lot of you wrote in stories about your own experiences with losing a pet. I like to think it helped all of us.

Surprise Success

I was surprised at how much you guys were excited that I returned to blogging after I took some time away. I called it The Brett Favre of the Blog World. I took a much-needed break after originally having a blog called Healthy Living With Kelly. I ended that blog after about a year when I suffered a terrible finger accident that forced me to slow down and reevaluate what was important to me in my life.

Not Enough Attention

My yeast-free pizza dough is really good, easy and it doesn’t use yeast so there isn’t any rising and waiting time. It is perfect when you want homemade pizza but don’t want to spend a lot of time actually making homemade pizza. Go check it out! 😉

Most Proud

My five wedding anniversary. I still can not believe that I have been married to Keith for five years! He is the man of my dreams and I am truly a lucky lucky girl.

And to keep the 7 links going I am going to tag a few of my favorite bloggers to do this post!

Allena @ A Gurley Girl

Kelly @ My Verbal Vomit

Katie @ Yes I Want Cake

Amy @ Second City Randomness

Holly @ The Runny Egg

Ashley @ Edible Perspective

Lindsey @ Cardio Pizza

reading is good for the soul

July 25, 2011

Are you a reader? I am. A big reader. In fact, on Saturday, I started and finished a book. For those of you who are curious it was James Patterson’s 7th Heaven. It is also no surprise to any regular readers of my blog that I am also hooked on the Lee Child Jack Reacher novels. So hooked in fact I have read 16 of his 17 books since April. Truth: Jack Reacher has become my fictional crush; kind of like Peyton Manning is my real life crush. Keith is beside himself. I’m kidding.

I have also joined a book club…shocker…and our first book is going to be The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I have it on hold at the library. I am excited to start it.

My Dad and I were talking about reading the other night. He is also an avid reader and he is constantly passing books to me that he enjoyed. That is how I ended up reading 7th Heaven. I called him immediately to discuss (a custom in my reading relationship with my Dad) and he laughed that I had started and finished it in one day. I couldn’t put it down. He, on the other hand, likes to savior the book. When it gets to a really climatic part he stops, puts the book down and walks away so he has something to look forward to later. What?!?! That is so weird to me. When I get to a really good part I read faster and faster until I am so wrapped in the book that a bomb could go off without my noticing.  Different strokes.

Are you a reader?

Do you like to savior the book or are you the type that once you start you can’t stop?

it’s friday, friday. gotta get down on friday

July 22, 2011

It’s photo friday. Every Friday I am just simply going to post my favorite picture from the week. It seems like a good way to wrap up the week and head into the weekend. It can be of anything: food, people, objects…just your favorite photo from the week. Feel free to join in and do it with me. Remember last week’s? I had some choice words for the things IN that photo this week. Believe me you. 🙂

Best photo from this week? Meet Shipley. We are doing a test run to see if he and the chickens can get along (the chickens were here first!) If they can then we might have another member of the family. I’ll keep you posted! 🙂
