my name
Do you remember in elementary school when you used to spell out your name and use the letters to describe yourself?
Like my name, Kelly:
K – Kind
E – Exciting
L – Little
L – Lucky
Y – Young
HAHA! Those were typical things I would use when I was younger. And c’mon how many descriptive words start with “K” and “Y”?
But I think this would still be fun as an adult and probably more indicative of who I am now that I have a much larger vocabulary and a better understanding of words.
K – Knowledgeable
E – Efficient
L – Loved
L – Loyal
Y – Yappy
Now these are words that I would use to describe my thrity year old self. And I am sure my 40-year-old self will use different words too. As will my 50 and 60-year-old self. What do you think?
Do you remember what words you used as a kid?
What words would you use now?
weekend in review
This weekend was good.
Probably the best weekend we’ve had in a while. And ironically we didn’t really do anything.
We needed it.
I finished the book, One Day, and honestly this might move onto my top 10 list of favorite books of all time. It was that good (in my opinion). I also started American Wife and it is really good so far.
Keith and I did this workout; compliments of Katie. If you want to hurt in a total “I’m a badass” type of way then do it.
The Cowboys won. This made Keith happy and on football Sunday a happy husband makes for a good day! 😉 (We won’t talk about the Colts game)
I washed all my clothes. I know this doesn’t sound like it would be fun but my basket was overflowing. In fact, I hadn’t done laundry in 3 weeks. So getting that done was a huge monkey off my back. Oh and now I don’t have to go buy clean underwear because I have some neatly folded in my drawer.
I made a killer green smoothie. It had 1 cup almond milk, big handful of spinach, 1 tbsp. peanut butter and 1 cup frozen blueberries. It was lick the glass good.
I got my wedding and engagement rings cleaned! I now feel very bling bling.
And I made stuffed bell peppers which I haven’t made in easily a year so it was a nice change up to our normal dinner routine.

Stuffed Bell Peppers
4 large bell peppers (any color)
1 pound lean ground beef, cooked
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup low-fat cheddar cheese
1 cup cooked brown rice
2 teaspoons taco seasoning mix, dry
1 cup canned tomato sauce
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Slice the tops off the peppers and then slice in half lengthwise; remove seeds, wash and pat dry. Place pepper halves in a small baking dish sprayed lightly with nonstick spray and roast for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, brown beef (bison or turkey…whatever you are using) in a skillet. Drain off excess fat. Stir to combine all ingredients, except for peppers; set aside.
Remove peppers from oven and reduce temperature to 350 degrees F. Evenly spoon mixture into pepper halves and return to oven for 20 more minutes.
Serves: 4
How was your weekend?
compromises
Life is all about compromises.
Marriage is all about compromises.
But, people, there are some things I refuse to compromise on.
Like toilet paper.
This is a serious thing. I will only buy Cottenelle toilet paper in my house. I figure I am the one who is doing most of the TP using so Keith can just live with it.
Like paper towels.
This one is a constant battle between us. I buy Viva. Yes, I know they are the most expensive paper towel on the market. I get it. But they are the best. And when Keith buys the crap $0.99 cent paper towels I use three times as many and then it isn’t so cost-effective is it?
Like tampons.
Now I know Keith has no dog in this fight except to buy them for me when I sweetly bat my eyelashes and beg. But I gotta have the Tampax Pearl Unscented tampons. No ifs, ands, or buts to this one. Anything else will be returned. And I am not too proud to wait in the customer service line at the grocery store to return tampons.
Like Smart Water.
I like it. Period. No other reason. I want Smart Water as my bottled water of choice. Thank you Costco for making this possible.
Like Coke.
No Pepsi is not okay. When I order coke at a restaurant I want coke. Not Pepsi, Not RC Cola. Coke.
Like Orbitz gum.
It is the best and longest lasting gum out there, in my opinion. No other brand will do. Orbitz Wintermint will have my heart forever.
Like sheet tucking.
Now this is another constant struggle. I like my sheet tucked in at the bottom. It drives me crazy if I pull up my sheet and my feet stick out. This happens way too often.
I promise I am a good compromiser. I just like to have my way first! ha! 😉
What is one thing you won’t compromise on?
perfect
Thanks everyone for the sweet words yesterday. I feel like it is this never ending battle. One day I am fine and then next day I’m a mess again. It is like one step forward and two steps back. But I suppose that is normal. This is new to me but I think that however I feel like reacting is what I should do. Right?
I do know that what me cheers me up is breakfast.
I love (like really love) breakfast foods.
If it were up to me there would be breakfast served in the Bruneman household for all 3 meals. Unfortunately Keith is not down.
Humpf.
But this morning I know myself well enough to know that a good breakfast would at least start my day right and allow the corners of my mouth to turn upward ever so slightly.
Never a bad thing.
I made pancakes. Not just any pancakes but the best pancakes I have found in the blog world to date!
Enter the Fitnessista’s Perfect Protein Pancakes.
Believe me they are perfect.
Topped with syrup and chopped pear.
Hold the gates…I feel a smile coming on.
