project 52 – 2012 edition

January 10, 2012

Last year I participated in Project 52 with my friend Allena and some other bloggers. The idea is you list out 52 goals you want to complete in 2012 and for every one you do not complete you must give $5 to your favorite charity at the end of the year. I do a mixture of serious and fun goals. I think fun goals are important because they make us stop and enjoy life and the serious goals are important because they make us become better people

Here’s how I did in 2011.

So onto 2012! Here is it is:

  1. Save more money than I did in 2011 (that’s how I am quantifying that one)
  2. Volunteer
  3. Try to get pregnant and sustain the pregnancy. You can read my story here, here, here and here
  4. Order room service
  5. Go to one live sporting event
  6. Be cleaner
  7. Control my temper
  8. Do not let the scale control my mood
  9. Donate Blood
  10. Be better with skin care
  11. Get more clients
  12. To stop worrying so much what other people think
  13. Get a dog
  14. Redecorate my upstairs loft
  15. Get a safe deposit box
  16. Get life insurance for me and Keith
  17. Chew less gum
  18. Make an effort to be more fashionable
  19. Go on more dates with Keith
  20. Read 2 classics
  21. Start going to Temple more often (my younger Jewish self is appalled by my lack of attendance!)
  22. Go to Dallas more often to see Keith’s family
  23. Be better at staying in touch with my sister-in-law in Dallas. Hi Jill! 🙂
  24. Stop Fat Talk! (this is a BIG one for me!)
  25. Learn to sew a button back on (right now Keith is my go-to man for problems such a these)
  26. Stretch more
  27. Clean out my spare (hope to be baby) room’s closet. It is scary in there!
  28. Give up my reliance on protein bars for snacks
  29. Make 1 new recipe a month (I totally failed on this one last year)
  30. Go the Farmer’s Market once a month (I used to be so good about this!)
  31. Go to Denver for the BLEND retreat
  32. See more movies
  33. Stop the Diet Coke habit
  34. Say “Thank You” more
  35. Work on my jealousy issues (this goes hand in hand with #3)
  36. Do something touristy in my home city (Austin, Texas)
  37. Take a cooking class
  38. Take and Pass the Texes Teaching Exit Exam
  39. Finish my CE’s to renew my personal training certification
  40. Max out my IRA for the year
  41. Substitute teach
  42. Be more in touch with the news and the world around me
  43. Be better about praying
  44. Make up with a specific friend
  45. Update my personal property insurance policy
  46. Keep my 8-year-old car running well by doing necessary maintenance
  47. Be better throughout the year of organizing my tax receipts
  48. Get a pedicure every couple of months
  49. Complain Less
  50. Take compliments better
  51. Work at getting in my 10,000 steps a day
  52. Give $5 to charity for each on not completed by the end of the year

What do you think? Want to do Project 52 with me?

Love this! I need to do a lot of these things that are on your list!

Come be a tourist in San Antonio and we can hang out for a bit! We could see a movie (while not drinking Diet Coke), get a pedicure, visit the farmer’s market and say Thank You to everyone we see, thus crossing like 6 things off your list.

I can’t sew a button on to save my life. It’s embarrassing. I’m also horrible at ironing. The domestic gene related to fabric and sewing completely skipped me.

I am sold! Sounds like a great plan to me!

I can crochet a blanket, but I won’t even attempt to sew on a button. And ironing? Nope. I’m afraid I would either burn myself or the shirt – which will still end up wrinkled.

I swear almost all of this list could apply to my life and be goals for myself!

I love when people do this! However, I’m so ADD, I think I’d struggle with it… lol

this is such a great list, good mix of serious and fun! we’ve been saying we need a safety deposit box for too long… we are also redoing our loft to make it more homier, and i need to get at least 10k steps a day with my company’s pedometer so i can get “free” bonus money in my health insurance account. this is a tough one, but a good motivator for those lazy days!

    #31 is my favorite!
that and the getting pedicures one! I need to do that so badly!

I know a lot of people think pedicures are frivilous but it makes me feel better to have pretty feet and toes. I figure it’s worth it every so often to do the things that make you happy!

I’m tempted to do this as a goal list. But considering my hesitation to commit to this OR Project 365 (photography), maybe ‘set and meet new goals’ should be on my list of 52!

Oh my gosh, you knocked a lot of those off in 2011…I’m impressed! Also YES for #31!!! And of course #3…this is your YEAR!!

You should add hanging out with one of your favorite Austinities on there! 😉

And let’s go to the LSU/ Texas A&M game on October 20th! Then you can check off the live sporting event 🙂
