best vacations part II

April 8, 2011

Did you miss part I? Since mine and Keith’s five-year wedding anniversary is this month I am recapping the best vacations we’ve taken! This next vacation is special to me because this is where Keith popped the question. We went to Pass Christian, Mississippi with some friends who owned a house there. We spent July 4th weekend living on the bayou!

Pass Christian, Mississippi (circa 2005)

We fell in love with the neighbor’s dog. We named him Snoopy. Tell me this isn’t the cutest picture, ever?!

We hung out on the boat and rode jet skis all day long. Twas perfect!

What I remember about this picture is we took the boat to a river cafe (this was taken on the little parking dock) and I literally ate my weight in boiled shrimp! I would go back just for that shrimp.

I LOVE this picture. We had just gotten engaged about 5 minutes before! We both look so happy! Keith proposed on the beach under the fireworks on July 3, 2005.

The Newly happy ENGAGED couple! haha!

Unfortunately about 3 days after we left Pass Christian, hurricane Katrina destroyed it. (what is it with us visiting all the places Katrina destroyed) It was incredibly sad and our friend’s house was completely washed away. Nothing was left. I always wondered what happened to “Snoopy”. I hate the end on a sad note because this trip really was my most favorite. I have always said that the time when Keith got down on one knee and chose me to spend his life with was the day I will forever cherish.

don’t judge me

a love letter.

Dear Keith,

I know sometimes (okay most of the time) I can be a real pain in the ass (please stop nodding) but I also know how much you love me. It is evidenced by the little things you do.

Even though you swear you don’t snore (you do, babe, and loudly at that) you have tried to help solve this “imaginary” problem just to make me happy.

You always let me have the last bite even when I insist I am full and can’t possibly eat another thing for fear of exploding all over the kitchen floor leaving you quite the mess to clean.

You put up with my flame (read: raging fire) I carry for Peyton Manning and graciously order the NFL Ticket every season so I can see every. single. Colts game. Even though the only team you care about is the Cowboys and we get their games played in our market for free.

You watch shows like The Bachelor with me even though you claim not to really be interested. We don’t have to tell people that towards the end of the season you were yelling at the TV right along with me.

You never complain when I make recipes for you that call for ingredients like nutritional yeast, chia seeds, flax eggs or smoothies packed with spinach.

You tell me I am beautiful even when I refuse to shower after working out, sporting greasy hair and big nerd specs.

You feed my addictions. Enough said.

But most of all I know you love me because you always find ways to tell me. Like after I come in from a run with coffee on the mind and this is what I find:

I love you, too. A lot. Even more than Peyton Manning. 😉
