best vacations
April is such a special month for me because April 30th is my wedding anniversary. This year Keith and I will have been married 5 years! I am so excited! I love to look back on all the fun times Keith and I have had together and all the really fun places we’ve been to together. So I am going to start a series for the month of April and once a week I am going to recap a fun place we’ve traveled to together. Our first stop:
New Orleans, Lousianna (circa 2005)
First, we stayed at this adorable apartment right in the French Quarter! It was adorable!! And we felt right at home! This was the sitting room!
And of course we had to check out the infamous Burboun Street! We are such tourists!
We walked to the local (and large) flea market where we scored some fun (New Orleans) must haves:
We explored Jackson Square
We also dined out at some fabulous places! We ate Cajun Seafood at Ralph & Kacoo’s
We ate a fancy shamcy dinner one night at Emeril’s New Orleans
And we explored some night life!
It was such a fun little get-a-way and I felt very fortunate to experience New Orleans before hurricane Katrina. I think that having spent some time there and really enjoying all this great city had to offer made me feel even more of a connection to the city of New Orleans when they were faced with tragedy. We have so many places on our bucket list we want to explore but I definitely plan on getting back to New Orleans one day!
Have you ever been to New Orleans?
I have never been to New Orleans! It’s one place I’d enjoy visiting, though- a lot of that probably having to do with the cajun cooking- it’s one of my favorite styles!
Great vacay!
I have never been to New Orleans but I would love to!
The only real vacation that Jason and I have taken was to Vegas this past November — I really hope this summer we can take a nice little trip somewhere!
Sounds like so much fun!! I’ve never been to New Orleans, but my dad went a couple years ago, and hasnt stopped talking about it since. 🙂
You guys are adorable. I swear you can’t take a bad picture, either one of you.
I dropped my dad off at the airport in NOLA. Does that count? 🙂
Thanks! So sweet…Keith always takes good pictures…he makes me look good! ha!
I went once, but it was for a work conference. (Note: The New Orleans Convention Center isn’t exciting in case you were curious.) I did get to try a beignet at the famous Cafe du Monde and it was just as delicious as I imagined. I’d love to go back again when I could really see the city.
Love the photo of you guys at the Cajun place!
We went to Cafe du Monde too and had beignets…so yummy!! I hadn’t had one before and I haven’t had once since. Hum…reason enough to go back!
Wow this looks like so much fun! I have so many places I want to travel! This is one of those places! We are going to Hawaii in a month and I can’t wait!!
FUN! We went to Maui for our honeymoon and we are going back for 14 days this December. I. can. not. wait.
That looks like fun! I haven’t been to NO but I’ve been everywhere else in Louisiana!
Thanks for your sweet post about health bloggers. I try not to get caught up in it but sometimes it’s hard. I like the blogs that I feel like I know the REAL person so that what I am for (hello, I post things like pizza and brownies). Thanks for the encouragement!
Thanks Tara. I am glad you saw it as encouragement…I think you are adorbs! 🙂
I’ve never been to New Orleans but would LOVE to visit.
That looks like a fabulous vacation! I would love to travel there someday. Now I actually don’t live too far away hopefully it will happen soon 🙂
I have a good friend who went to law school in New Orleans and I went to visit her twice, once for Halloween and once for Mardi Gras. It was definitely fun!
