REWARD: A healthy meal

spring break day 1

March 13, 2012

I had the best day yesterday.

The best.

I slept late, you know until 8:00am. And then made myself a delicious breakfast of a toasted Ezekiel Muffin with 1 scrambled egg and 1/2 avocado (with no picture….sheesh sorry. Actually I took not one picture yesterday.)

Then I lazed around and decided that an Old Navy trip was necessary. I got 2 pair of shoes, 1 pair of pants, 2 tops and 1 dress for under $100. Sigh. I love Old Navy.

Then I decided to get a pedicure.

Best. Decision. Evvvvvver.

And then Keith and I finished it off with the season finale of The Bachelor. The fact that Keith loves The Bachelor as much as me is number 5,112,567 that I love him so much. And can I just say….Goodluck with Courtney, Ben. You’re going to have your hands full.

Good.

Luck.

With.

That.

Oh and we had tacos. Did I mention it that? Crunchy beef tacos. Every last bite was delicious.

And that was that. Spring break day 1 was a hit!

eating out and movies

March 12, 2012

This weekend I dominated in the “eating out” category. It was glorious. I barely cooked and still enjoyed some fantastic food! I don’t take pictures of my food at restaurants (that is still just too weird to me) so you will just have to use your imagination and take my word for it!

This weekend’s eats included:

  • Subway: I had a 6-inch sweet onion chicken teriyaki on wheat with apple slices
  • Hyde Park Bar & Grill (If you live in the Austin area I HIGHLY recommend this place!): I had a grilled chicken sandwich on a wheat bun with a side salad and honey mustard dressing. Oh and a virgin bloody mary that was so spicey it made my hair curl. Excellent!
  • Chic-Fil-A: I had a chargrilled chicken sandwich with extra pickles!
  • Hot Wok: I had beef with broccoli, brown rice and an egg roll

Now that is a tasty weekend! I really love to eat out but I know that my checking account doesn’t like it. But every so often you just gotta splurge! Keith and I also really enjoyed the sunny weather on Sunday and we walked to Hot Wok. It isn’t far…only about a mile and a half but that’s a big deal because we do not live in a commuter state. And we live in the suburbs…so not a lot of walking goes on. But we liked it and we got in 3 miles of exercise while getting to spend quality time together. We both agreed to walk more places more often. It reminded me of how in London we had to walk everywhere we went. Sometimes I wish I lived in more walking friendly town.

Keith and I also watched two movies this weekend. We saw Moneyball and The Rum Diary. I loved Moneyball and thought it was a great story although some us didn’t like the ending (right mom ;)) and The Rum Diary…um….well….let’s just say I still have absolutely no idea what that movie was about. It was weird. But Johnny Depp stars in…need I say more?

And that concludes another exciting rendition of Weekend At The Bruneman’s!

How was your weekend?

friday

March 9, 2012

My refrigerator and pantry are scary empty. Like I should have stopped at the grocery store after work 3 days ago empty.

That makes packing a lunch hard. I scrounged around and came up with following:

  • 1 apple
  • handful of baby carrots
  • 1/2 small container of cherry tomatoes
  • pickle slices
  • 2 sticks string cheese
  • gluten-free crackers

Anyone want to join me for lunch?

*crickets* *crickets* *crickets*

No one? C’mon it’s not that bad.

Okay it is. But it’s Friday which means a grocery store run is on the agenda for tomorrow. You know along with 8 jillion other people.

Sigh. Fun times.

I know most of you are thinking just go out for lunch. I can’t. I work in a school and I have exactly 30 minutes of kid-free time to eat. And I am not brave enough to eat a school lunch. But they do sell side salads which actually are decent so I can always grab one of those to fill in the gaps if I need to.

But it is Friday and Friday means pizza night in our house. It has for years now. Every Friday night we make our own pizza. You know with Keith’s half looking like a small animal gave his life for his meal and mine looking like I raided a garden. It’s the yin and the yang baby. And we sometimes rent movies, sometimes go to movies or sometimes just watch TV and play a game.

Watch out kids, it’s another crazy night in the Bruneman house!

But anyway, I hope everyone has a happy Friday with a much better lunch that I am eating and something on the agenda for the night or weekend that makes you happy! 🙂
