eating out and movies

March 12, 2012

This weekend I dominated in the “eating out” category. It was glorious. I barely cooked and still enjoyed some fantastic food! I don’t take pictures of my food at restaurants (that is still just too weird to me) so you will just have to use your imagination and take my word for it!

This weekend’s eats included:

  • Subway: I had a 6-inch sweet onion chicken teriyaki on wheat with apple slices
  • Hyde Park Bar & Grill (If you live in the Austin area I HIGHLY recommend this place!): I had a grilled chicken sandwich on a wheat bun with a side salad and honey mustard dressing. Oh and a virgin bloody mary that was so spicey it made my hair curl. Excellent!
  • Chic-Fil-A: I had a chargrilled chicken sandwich with extra pickles!
  • Hot Wok: I had beef with broccoli, brown rice and an egg roll

Now that is a tasty weekend! I really love to eat out but I know that my checking account doesn’t like it. But every so often you just gotta splurge! Keith and I also really enjoyed the sunny weather on Sunday and we walked to Hot Wok. It isn’t far…only about a mile and a half but that’s a big deal because we do not live in a commuter state. And we live in the suburbs…so not a lot of walking goes on. But we liked it and we got in 3 miles of exercise while getting to spend quality time together. We both agreed to walk more places more often. It reminded me of how in London we had to walk everywhere we went. Sometimes I wish I lived in more walking friendly town.

Keith and I also watched two movies this weekend. We saw Moneyball and The Rum Diary. I loved Moneyball and thought it was a great story although some us didn’t like the ending (right mom ;)) and The Rum Diary…um….well….let’s just say I still have absolutely no idea what that movie was about. It was weird. But Johnny Depp stars in…need I say more?

And that concludes another exciting rendition of Weekend At The Bruneman’s!

How was your weekend?

I ate out twice this weekend and loved it! And chargrilled sandwich with EXTRA pickles is the only way to go at CFA! 😉

I miss walking places too. Atlanta is not generally a very walker friendly city unless you live in certain areas and I live in the suburbs.

We went to this little pizzeria in a town of 300 people. It was amazing. We watched rum diary last weekend…and I told Nate about 25 times to turn it off because it was so ridiculous! haha and we watched money ball this weekend! It was great!

We watched “Horrible Bosses” this weekend, and “Game Changer” with Julianne Moore! And ate a lot of food. Not necessariliy out, (in fact, only one meal was “out”) but still delicious!

If I”m at home, I prefer home cooked meals, but being in Austin for me means I usually have to eat all the good food while I can! What are some of your favorites? I have so much more to explore, but I like Aster’s, Mothers, and Buenos Aires Cafe, ever been to those? I wish I could walk everywhere too! Weekend was fun, I celebrated the opening of two of my friend’s new yoga studio, though the endless rain made me lazy.

Austin has GREAT food places! Galaxy Cafe is really good! Threadgills (for Southern homecooked food), East Side Cafe, Guerro’s, Hyde Park, Shady Grove….I could go on and on and on!

We ate out twice this past weekend…and it was so funny because as we were eating out Friday night, Lee suggested where we should go Saturday night and I objected and said I didn’t want to go out and spend the money and he argued that we were definitely going out to eat on Saturday. I eventually gave in and good thing I did because…he proposed!! 🙂

Ugh– Huntsville is NOT walkable either, and it drives me crazy!! We’re trying to make more of an effort to walk places, but it’s hard when so much of the town is sidewalk-free and busy, busy streets!!

Sounds like a fun weekend! I loved Moneyball too!

Everything you ate this weekend sounds so good! Sometimes a grilled chicken sandwich just really hits the spot! I love the fact that you request extra pickles, too. That totally makes the sandwich!

I like going out to eat as well, feels like such a treat because I cook every night..so to get a break is much appreciated!!
& I LOVE Chick Fil A. It’s been way too long since I’ve had it. This post makes me want it. Now. 9pm Chick Fil A run?! Sure why not 😉
