things that make me weird
August 3, 2012
I am such a weird person. Really I am.
So before all you decide to be friends with me, maybe we should discuss. I would hate for you to not feel warned.
- When I am bored I sometimes make up movies in my head in which I am the main character. I have a very overactive imagination.
- When I was a kid I think I suffered from mild OCD. Those are stories for another day but I am glad I grew out of some of those tendencies.
- I kind of like protein powder dry…as in give me a spoon and let me just dig in.
- I am suuuuuuper picky when it comes to fruit texture.
- Swimming in a lake grosses me out.
- I like rings to fit very loosely on my hands. So loose in fact that when it gets cold they frequently will just slip off. Good thing those wedding bands are insured. (this does not make for a happy Keith but I can’t help it.)
- I love the smell of sulpher. You know like when you blow out a match or watch a fireworks show.
- I like the way almond butter tastes on top of almond cheese. yuuuuum.
- I talk to Bella like she’s human. Our conversations usually go something like this:
- The scene: Bella starting to do something she shouldn’t be.
- Me: “Bella, is that a good decision? Do you think you could make a better choice?” I am such a teacher.
- Keith yelling from the background, “She doesn’t understand you!” Ah…good times.
- I can’t eat a half of something that is supposed to be eaten as a whole. Drives me crazy. Like Keith will eat half an apple with pb and put the other half in the fridge. I can’t do that. It’s an apple. It is supposed to be eaten as a whole…in one sitting.
- Because I was curious, I tried a bite of one of Bella’s peanut butter treats. Let’s just say if that was what I thought peanut butter tasted like I probably wouldn’t like it. She, however, is psycho for those things.
- And last (but certainly not all) I think karaoke might be the best thing ever. Like for real.
Tell me one weird thing about you!

I hate socks and cannot/will not wear them March through November. And I can’t wear them when I run either, so I wear running shoes with no socks.
I went through a weird no sock phase in high school. I never wore them and I was a track athlete. My shoes smelled! ha!
I only wear socks while at the gym. I rarely wear them in winter – definitely only to dig out my car, at most. HATE THEM!
I can one up you on the talking to the dog thing. I talk to Murphy and then make him talk back to me in a specific Murphy voice. I also voice his thoughts to Jason and he does the same to me. We have entire conversations with Murphy while one of us is voicing him.
HAHAHAHA!!! Love this.
It’s totally normal to talk to your pets like they understand you, right?! I count the number of strokes of deodorant I put on. It is the same everyday and I’m proud to say I don’t stink. Also, I’m a horrific stacker of things. I’m the only one that deals with the mail and any paperwork that comes into the house and I never deal with it in a timely fashion, hence the stacks. It’s not like hoarding though, I don’t keep things, I just end up dealing with the stack in my own time.
haha i love this post. I hate swimming in anything that is not crystal clear blue.
i love this! i had some ocd tendencies as a child too but have only outgrew a few of them…..still can’t sleep if there is stuff under the bed. kind of weird about the protein powder! almond butter on almond cheese not a bad idea! and very cute about Bella š hope you guys have a great weekend kelly!
My OCD tendency is that all my alarms have to be set on even numbers (I just like them better than odd numbers) but when I lock my car, I have to hear the beep three times before I’m satisfied it’s locked. Doug only does it once (like a sane person) and I always take the keys and do it again! Ha….it’s scary to admit your crazies out loud!! š
Hahahah! Love the dog conversation–I’m with you on that one. One weird thing about me–I put wasabi on nearly everything—eggs, sandwiches, you name it š
Wasabi? Like the green stuff from sushi places?? I bet it is good on eggs! š
I tattooed a Nerd on my arm. With fairy wings. http://www.mrbreakfast.com/cereal/mascot_9.jpg
Lexie and I have long conversations too. Mostly we discuss things like what I should make for dinner, and how she must promise me she will never get old. We chat on our walks too. Im pretty certain all the neighbors think I’m a complete nut job. š
Also, I can’t eat bananas if I think about their texture. I love them, but I have to have a distraction or they make me gag.
I definitely talk to my pup like he’s a human, well, like a baby.
We def. also share the loose ring thing, which is kind of scary.
LOL! I am laughing so hard. YOu know i do half these things too. talk with the dog, try the peanut butter treats, almond butter on almond cheese. Girl, i am a weirdo with you. Cheers!
Well I am fairly certain you are the one who told me about putting almond butter on almond cheese so……
I’m with you on fruit. Bananas are nearly impossible for me to eat because they have to be JUST right (which is rare and for a short window).
I feel like I was a little OCD as a child too. I wish you would elaborate on that! I did weird things like touch certain things 4 times, etc. 4 was my favorite # and it didn’t feel right if I didn’t! I read a book called “Kissing doorknobs” about an OCD child. I just find it facinating. We are all weird in different ways, I love it!
Yes!! That was me! I had to touch things a certain number of times and a certain way. I also had certain rituals that had to be performed exactly right or I would start over from the beginning. Strange….
Haha. I love your “good choices” speech with Bella. SUCH a teacher and I love it.
OMG if I had even a penny for the amount of times I have the “good choices” conversation with my kiddos I could retire yesterday. š
So funny and you know I love any type of list! I prefer yogurt smooth (as in vanilla with no chunks) but love chunky ice cream.
I am weird about my meatloaf texture. I need chunks of stuff in my meatloaf where as Keith doesn’t like to taste individual ingredients. So whenever I make meatloaf I make 2 individual mini ones…mine with rough chopped vegetables (onions, bell pepper, etc…) and I practically puree the vegetables for Keith. Any guesses on why I don’t make meatloaf often? ha!
I totally agree about eating WHOLE foods. I hear/read about people eating halves but I always eat the whole apple, banana, sandwich, etc.!
I use to have a roommate who would eat 1/2 a poptart or a 1/2 a cereal bar and it would drive me nuts! Not because I thought it was gross just because I couldn’t understand it. If I started eating a poptart there is no way I could have stopped at a 1/2. ha!
I have conversations with my pets all the time and in our convos they talk back. It’s weird, and the cat may or may not have a Russian accent and back story of a spy?haha
I talk to my pets all the time and in our convos they talk back. It’s totally normal.
I dislike fruit juice. Apple juice is at the top of my dislike list, followed by sherbert, anything sweetened with fruit juices, smoothies with fruit juice (instead of soymilk, milk, or fro yo), dried fruit, you name it. I actually kinda dislike apples too, but since they are one of the only available fruit in the middle of winter that is easy to find, not too expensive, and don’t dent easily, I end up eating one every single day. I put up with apples, but I will never love them. I’ve probably eaten 325 apples in the last 365 days.
I love this! I also make up movies in my head where I’m the main character, hate swimming in lakes (yuck), and talk to my cat like she is a human.
One weird thing about me: I hate hot food (temperature). I wait until my food is room temperature to eat it..I’m weird!
