brunettes have more fun
As a brunette I think I have always had this love affair with the idea of being blond. I could never be blond because my hair is a seriously DARK shade of brown. I don’t do highlights or anything else either because the roots show so easily.
And I am kind of lazy.
And cheap.
And keeping up with highlights or a dye job takes effort and money.
But I did finally cave and buy the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette shampoo and conditioner.
I know, I know, that stuff has been around at least ten years. I am a late bloomer.
Anyway…it says that it will bring out natural tonal differences and give your hair dimension.
Sounds like my kind of shampoo.
I’ve been using it for about 2-3 weeks now and the result?
Well…maybe my natural hair doesn’t have tonal differences but it does make is super shiny!
I may not be rocking some super sexy highlights…but I did spend less than $10 for the shampoo and conditioner combined.
Works. For. Me.
Do you shell out extra money for super sexy highlights or just rock what you got like me?
you have gorgeous hair!!
Oh thank you…but I never feel like that! I wish it were thicker!
I used to dye my hair all the time, it’s been pretty much every color under the sun, and some that don’t exist naturally in nature… but I went back to my natural color about 2 years ago and have never been happier. So much easier! I did sneak in a few highlights last fall, but I’ve already colored over them so I don’t have to keep up with the maintenance.
I love that line of shampoo and conditioner– it makes brunet hair super glossy!
Haha…I used to get highlights in high school and college– me with my dark brown hair!! It was NOT a good look!
You could have blond hair, it would feel like hay, you would spend 3+ hours at salon, it would cost $250+ every 3 weeks, but yes, you could have blond hair. Not that I would know or anything….my hair is the same tone as yours. I went thru my “blond” stage. Let us just say, it is a stage I wish to forget, the pictures have been burned! I am going to try that shampoo/conditioner. I would love for my hair to look that shiny!
Now, I do the color in a box. Fools even my stylist now….why pay tons on money if you dont need to? Haircolor has come a long way.
Not worth it! 😦
Like Jess, my hair has been every color imaginable. Red, brown, black, blond, highlighted, etc. Back in 2009 I went dark and have pretty much stayed there. Yay for brunettes!
My hair has pretty much been every color. I’ve been blonde, brunette, redhead, all that. But for the longest time I just stuck with my natural color and that was fine. Then my grey got so out of control I just couldn’t take it anymore. But now I’ve found a hairdresser that does a great job and doesn’t charge a ridiculous price, so that really helps.
I used to always use that shampoo. It also made my hair so shiny! I never highlight my hair because of the same root problem, however, I have been doing soft black washes which I love! It’s not permanant, but lasts long enough for me to feel like I’ve changed something!
I’ve dyed my hair so many different colors and done so many different things to my hair. My hair is naturally dark like yours with a red undertone. I used to use John Frieda but stopped, I gotta start again obviously.
I used to spend crazy amounts of money to be blonde. The frugal Amy of today is seriously still disappointed in my habits back then… lol
Damn, your hair IS shiny–I love it! I used to get my hair did every two months but now I dye my own and get my hair cut at beauty schools or only when I have a coupon or Groupon for a place. Like others, I’ve done so much to my hair that its overprocessed and just need a break from color, blowdrying, straightening, etc.
I hate expensive it is to get your hair cut…but that is a great idea! I am going to check out the beauty school near me!
I usually will get highlights like once a year and then when they grow out, I’ll buy a boxed dye close to my regular cover to cover it up.
i always loved your hair color! wouldn’t change it for the world. Its so natural and shiny. I haven’t touched my hair since last november. Natural highlights are working well, and i am saving a TON! phew!
Wow – that is some gorgeous and shiny hair! I may have to try those products. I don’t have the patience to sit in a salon every six weeks for hair color, nor do I have the time or money. 🙂 When I go gray, I’ll definitely color, but I figure I’ll wait until that. For now – natural brunette all the way!
You know my hair – I’ve tried highlights and it’s just too dark to maintain. We’re definitely hair color twins!!
your hair is SO shiny! jealous! mine always has frizz + flyaways!
I have been all sorts of colors but never really a true blonde (except when I was a kid and it was naturally light). I hate my natural – it’s very dull and bad with my eyes and skintone. So, every 6 weeks when I get my hair done, I grumble about the time and cost of dying it a few shades lighter. 2-3 hours and $100 (and some thinned hair) later? I’m happy. 🙂 So, for now, I continue the self-inflicted torture and guilt.
My hair matches yours now since I dyed it dark…I’m definitely having fun with the darker locks!
I do spend money on highlights/color b/c I’m scared to do it myself! I save money though by going to a hair school where it’s about 50% cheaper since the stylists are students. I think they always do a great job!
