plain jane

November 4, 2011

I am a plain jane kind of person.

I like things simple.

I order coffee at Starbucks. Coffee. Sometimes a vanilla latte.

I don’t wear makeup and I don’t buy designer clothing.

My car has 107,000 miles on it but it’s paid off and runs perfectly. I don’t need a new one.

I don’t need the latest and greatest technology.

I eat my pancakes and waffles without syrup.

I hate chocolate in sweet breads.

I can watch the same movies over and over and reread books.

I like the original Kombucha flavor.

I am a simple girl.

I am glad Keith likes simple.

I am perfectly content to slip on my pajama pants and read on a rainy afternoon or any afternoon.

My favorite soup is plain tomato.

I wear Birkenstocks.

I wash my whites and colors together in cold because it’s quicker and have never had a problem.

My favorite shoes are flip-flops that are 5 years old.

Simple. Simple. Simple.

Fess up…are you simple or do you have aΒ flair for the dramatic?

I am so simple. I eat oatmeal every day for breakfast. I wear jeans with holes in them. I would be happy with a wardrobe of nothing but my favorite jeans, a comfy sweater and my chucks all the time. My car has 107,000+ on it and well, we only have one car here. I love all of this about you Kelly!

I am pretty good about eating a different breakfast every morning but I tend to eat the same lunch day after day after day. I figure it works, I like it and it’s easy…done and done! πŸ˜‰

Ah, I can relate to so many of these things!

I think I am somewhere in between. While I do have some fancier clothes/shoes, I’ve never paid full price for them. I never wear makeup during the weekend and often go weeks without taking a single hot tool to my unruly hair. Since our washer is tiny and I have to break up the loads anyway, I do separate colors, lol. You are not a plain jane, you’re easy going and practical. πŸ˜‰

I’d say I’m pretty simple. Every once in awhile, I get these itches to wear lots of makeup and dress super cute…but it’s just not me. It’s not that I don’t have style, it’s just my own style. I have a high maintenance personality when it comes to being loved and cared for…and for having a clean house. But when it comes to clothes and makeup, it’s whatever πŸ™‚ Happy (finally) Friday!

I think I’m simple too — and I liked reading this because I could have written some of these points as well: no makeup, plain coffee, reread books, rewatch movies, wash whites + colors together, etc.

I like to use what we have and only buy things when we actually need them.

I’m somewhere in the middle (closer to the plain side), but somehow birthed a girl that is all about bows, ruffles, dolled up hair and the like.

    Sample exchange:
daughter: Does my hair look pretty?
me: It looks nice. But what is more important than being pretty?
daughter: Being nice, but I am nice, so I can be nice AND pretty.
    me: sigh.

I’m pretty simple too I think. I would far rather wear yoga pants than actually dress nice. I’m happier in a ponytail than with my hair done. My car is new, but it has no extras. Not even automatic locks. It runs and all the windows open – those were the only two things I cared about.

Well, I guess I’m simple then – and wow, we have a lot in common! Literally, the only two things on your list that don’t fit me (aside from the husband – mines named Tony πŸ™‚ are the kombucha (I’ve never really tried it beyond a tiny sip) and the Birkenstocks (I’ve never tried on or owned a pair). Everything else, totally fits me. Spooky.

I should add to your list though rather than just agreeing! When I’m feeling stressed I like to eat really simple foods – like three ingredients or less. Just a theory, but I think really tasting the food like this makes me feel more grounded.

My car is a 2001 and has 110,000 miles on it. Not having a car payment is definitely better than having a new car in my opinion.

I agree I am going to drive my Honda until it just won’t go anymore!!

Simple for sure. I mean I think everybody has 1 or 2 dramatic things but I am all about simple, normal, comfortable, calm. I like my life simple!!

  11. November 4, 2011 11:11 am

I’d say I’m a mix of both. For the most part I’m pretty low key and simple, but I’m definitely a bit of a girly girl and love hair, makeup, all that jazz. And I can be slightly dramatic… bu then I did almost go to school for art/theatre so what can you expect πŸ™‚

    Hi Kelly!!

It’s been a while…sorry! I like to go on my PJs’ all day too and the only make up I have is a mascara – why bother πŸ™‚ Being yourself is the best, you are the best as you are!!
I am so sorry for your loss and hope you are feeling a bit better πŸ™‚ *hug*
    Did you get a dog??

I wash my whites and colors together on cold too! Also probably because i don’t have enough whites to wash a seperate load πŸ™‚

    Love this πŸ™‚
I am the SAME way with laundry- I always wash things together. Sorting is just too much of a pain in the but.

Haha – I think I can “out-plain” you. I have no idea what Birkenstocks are, I never buy coffee, I’ve never tried or bought (or seen) Kombucha…but I do like a few chocolate-chips in banana bread on occasion πŸ˜‰
