put your back into it

August 3, 2011

It is good to know that most of you around the country are also fed up with the heat wave we all seem to be experiencing. Seriously ridiculous! We have now been threatened with rolling power outages to aid in relief on the power grid unless we reduce our power consumption during peak hours (3:00pm-7:00pm) Lovely. So please if you live in the central Texas area…conserve your electricity! I am begging. And for those of you living in California I am considering moving in. I promise I am a great roomie! Oh…but can I bring Keith?

I did decide yesterday that I was taking matters into my own hands! In an effort to not be at home using power during those peak hours, I packed myself up, lathered on the SPF a billion and went to my Dad’s pool. See, seriously what a sacrifice. But I had a reason. Last week I really messed up my back. Not entirely sure what went down but it kept me off any exercise last week and this week it is somewhat better but it is still not ready for the exercise level I am used to. So let’s review. Major heat and no exericse…oh…can’t you see what a peach I’ve been to live with? (Keith…it would be wise for you to say “no comment” in response to that) But my friend (and boot camp instructor), Kim, said I should get into a pool to help loosen it up. I did. It helped while I was actually in the water but as soon as I got out it was pain city. I should also mention that I thought it would be smart to run 3 miles yesterday morning. Not smart, Kelly, not smart at all.

So I am in major pain again. And I will admit that I have a very high pain tolerance so for me to say something hurts…it hurts! Well I am trying something new this morning. I am going to acupuncture. My husband, Dad and Grandpa all swear by it…so I am giving it a go. I figure it’s worth a try, right? And I was talking to the nurse and she said lots of women actually use acupuncture to help with fertility. Seeing as how I seem to be  failing miserably in that department I might think about using it for that too. But one step at a time and right now my back is what needs help. Serious serious help. So wish me luck and I will tell you all about my first acupuncture appointment tomorrow!

Have you ever done acupuncture? Would you?

I hope it provides some relief! Jason seems to throw his back out every couple of weeks and I can see how much pain he endures.

    Do you see a chiropractor?

Good luck with the acupuncturist! I’ve never done it, but I’ve always been very curious, so I can’t wait to hear how it goes!

I tried acupuncture for a while. Twice in fact and it didn’t do anything for me. I hope you have better luck.

If you’re in pain, don’t exercise. Calm down girl!

I know! 🙂 I am taking it easy from now on. No more exercise until I am back to normal. That is sooooo hard!

I hate to tell you that it’s 60 degrees here this morning. I have on a sweatshirt and slippers. You are welcome to come live at our house until the heat wave is over – bring Keith, too. It will be a grand time.

    Hope the acupuncture helps!

Can’t wait to hear what you think! And I hope it brings you some relief! I have had accupuncture only once, so I don’t think I gave it a real chance, but would definitely do it again!

I hope your back gets better. That’s the worst, you can’t do anything with a sore back. I’m interested to hear if the acupuncture works, I’ve never tried it before, but I know some people swear by it.

I saw on Twitter that you just got back from your appointment. Hope it went well! 🙂

I’ve heard such great things about acupuncture, especially for making babies. Looking forward to hearing how it went.

Kelly I hope your back feels better ASAP & I’m sending you lots & lots of baby making wishes!! I can’t imagine how difficult that must be. My mom & dad tried for 8 years with no success. They did all kinds of fertility things & eventually gave up. Once they stopped “trying” along I came & my brother within 2 years of me. Fingers crossed for u & Keith. 🙂

Hi Kelly! I think I was meant to stumble upon your blog today 🙂 We have SO much in common (I’m turning 30 next year – YIKES; my husband is 11 years older than me, and I am struggling with fertility as well!) I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on acupuncture! Sending you lots of love girlie!! xo

I’m with you on the heat. It’s awful. I hope acupuncture brings you some relief.
