baby trey’s baby shower
My baby shower was last Sunday.
It was amazing.
I was overwhelmed. For several years (our journey to be parents started 2 1/2 years ago) I never thought I would be the one having a baby shower. It seemed like I was never going to be a mom and this shower meant so much to me. It was a place I never thought I’d be and a place I so desperately wanted to be. It was a little emotional.
I don’t have a ton of pictures because I wasn’t taking any. But my hostesses are taking all the pictures and making me a shutterfly book so I am SUPER pumped about seeing them all! I have only seen the ones below so it will be fun to relive the moment! 🙂
Baby Trey’s First Party!
The Entry Way. The Hostesses had all these old baby pictures of me and Keith around the house. It was so fun to look at them!
The Diaper Cake!
Keith’s Family! (Keith’s mom, niece, wife (duh!), sister, niece, sister)
It wouldn’t be a baby shower without a bump shot. And believe me….that is SOME bump! 34 weeks!
It was a great party and I am so thankful to all my family and friends who came to show their love for me, Keith, and Baby Trey. We are very blessed to have such amazing people in our lives! 🙂
favorites
I am a favorites person. Keith isn’t. There is no more annoying question in this world than asking him what his favorite [insert anything] is. He always says he likes a lot of things and doesn’t have one favorite.
Me?
I have favorites. Favorite color, favorite book, favorite food, favorite number, favorite parts of vacation, years, days, etc. There is something so satisfying to me about picking something as “the favorite.”
So it would be only natural that throughout this pregnancy I would have favorites. I know Keith is rolling his eyes.
Favorite Trimester: Definitely the third. Hands down! The first trimester was so stressful for me. After the two miscarriages I didn’t know from week to week (or day to day) what was going on inside my body and every ultrasound (I had one a week) was stressful. The second trimester I got all my energy back but my body was weird. I was showing but not enough to really be considered pregnant and then once I did pop out I was worried that I was too big. That trimester was characterized by a lot of body insecurity. The third has been THE BEST! I am without a doubt pregnant to the naked eye. I’m tired but I feel really happy about almost being a mom. I am just happy. Very very happy. Still a little worried that something will go wrong but that’s me. I’m a worrier and always have and probably always will be.
33 weeks
Favorite Pregnancy Symptom: My skin is AMAZING! Since I got my positive pregnancy test back in February I have not had one pimple. Not one. I am attributing it to the new surge of hormones and I’m sure the fact that I started using a Clarisonic in May hasn’t hurt either. But seriously guys…not one pimple in 33 weeks. That’s awesome! (knock on wood lest my face explode tomorrow…ha!)
Favorite Food Craving: I am going to go with a genre here. Mexican food is my absolute favorite. I could quite literally eat it every single day for every single meal. I crave hot sauce, guacamole and fajitas. Crave them. Even Keith, my serious Mexican food loving husband, gets sick of it! And that is hard to do!
Favorite Baby Book: I read a lot of books simply because I am one of those really annoying people who likes to be as prepared as possible. But my favorite is Baby 411. I just liked how it was broken down in easy to read question and answer format. I found that to be less overwhelming than long chapters of information. I will also definitely buy Toddler 411 once Trey is 1.
Favorite Clothing Brand: Pink Blush Maternity! They have the cutest stuff for reasonable prices. I have lived in their long maxi skirts most of the second and third trimesters. Especially when I want to dress up and go out with Keith. I got super lucky because my friend Allena (blogger at A Gurley Gurl) gave me boxes and boxes of maternity clothes that she wore during her two pregnancies. She was a lifesaver!
Favorite Baby App: Baby Bump Pro. This app lets you track everything, upload pictures and even write a birth plan. I check it everyday for my daily updates. A must have in my opinion.
Are you a favorites person?
are you a TV junkie?
I claim not to watch a lot of TV. But then when I put pen to paper and I kinda do. My TV shows are broken into categories: School Year TV, Summer TV, and Keith TV.
School Year TV are the shows that come on (duh) during school months. I watch the following:
- Scandal
- Grey’s Anatomy
- Castle
Summer TV are those shows that come on during the summer months. I watch:
- Mistresses
Keith TV are the shows Keith and I watch together. Those are:
- Shark Tank
- Football (including all the pre and post game shows)
- ESPN true life stories (We LOVE those!!)
- The Bachelor/Bachelorette (Keith is a good man. Ha!)
I also tend to run soap net in the background on Saturdays when I am cleaning, working on stuff for school, etc. I mean, c’mon, cutting out lamination is waaaay better with One Tree Hill on. Way better.
So I definitely enjoy my fair share of mind numbing TV although I don’t really watch a lot of reality TV. I don’t know…aside from the Bachelor and occasionally The Voice I like the fictional stuff. 🙂
Any shows I am missing?
What’s your favorite all time TV show? Mine is Felicity. Best show ever.
what’s been going on
Well the school year started and I welcomed 22 second graders into my classroom and into my life. So far the first week has gone well. I am tired and my feet hurt but I suspect that has more to do with being 30 weeks pregnant versus anything to do with my new class of energetic ones. They have been wonderful and are all so excited that Mrs. Bruneman is having a baby! Although there was a palpable disappointment with the girls when I told them I was having a boy and a hardy cheer from the boys.
I have been sure to take care of myself and drink lots of water. One of the moms in my room is actually a labor and delivery nurse at the hospital I am delivering and she has ben great about letting me ask her all kinds of questions. The worrier in me loves having another resource to talk to. And Keith, bless his soul, has rubbed my feet every single night. I definitely married a winner.
Bella has been adversely affected by her mama going back to work. No more cuddles until 7:00a.m. in bed followed by her 45 minute morning walk. Now it is more like she eats and I kiss her head goodbye. Keith comes home mid morning and walks her and she gets her evening walk. But to say she is mad at her mama is an understatement. She spent the first 3 days ignoring me completely. Wouldn’t ever look at me. If I said I didn’t have to call Keith a few mornings on my drive to school so he would make me stop crying I’d be lying. I am going to be a wreck leaving my baby once maternity leave is over. Having Bella mad at me is the WORST because she doesn’t understand even though, trust me, I have explained it to her several times.
Pregnancy wise, I am doing well. Just growing. I’m a little over 30 weeks and feel ginormous! Even though so many coworkers have been great about telling me how great I look. They know what to say to a pregnant woman! 🙂
Fun Pregnancy Facts:
Swelling: Nope! Very excited and hope it stays that way. And we’re still in triple digit heat! So I’d say that’s a good sign. I have low blood pressure. Most times I go in it’s around 94/60. So that could also be why I haven’t seen much swelling.
Weight Gain: Still holding steady at 23 pounds gained. I actually haven’t gained a single pound in almost a month despite eating everything in sight. My doctor didn’t seem concerned so I guess I shouldn’t be either. I am sure in the coming weeks when Trey is going from 2 1/2 pounds to closer to 8 pounds I will see that scale increase. 😉 I also PASSED my gestational diabetes test. I was irrationally nervous about that test but I did great! 🙂
Exercise: Aside from walking Bella in the evenings…none. Ha! You try being on your feet all day teaching, be in your third trimester, and the try to squeeze in some after school exercise. Hey those of you who can do it…you’re better than me.
Cravings: Basically anything spicy. Keith found this local deli down the street that makes jalapeño coleslaw. Oh my stars….it’s amazing! Sweet foods still make me nauseous so I haven’t been really big on the sweets. But chips and salsa? Yes Please!
Movement: I feel him everyday…some more than others but as long as I feel a few jabs throughout the day I try not to panic.
Stretch Marks: Nope! Crossing my fingers this continues. I am still religiously rubbing lotion on my belly and lower back twice a day!!
Aches & Pains: Nothing major. My back aches every so often and my feet hurt occasionally at the end of the day. But so far I’ve been lucky.
Baby Shower: Coming up! It’s September 22nd and I am so excited. The ladies hosting did an AMAZING job with the invitations so I can only imagine how great the shower will be.
So I think that’s it. Hope everyone is doing well. If you have kiddos…be nice to their teacher! 🙂 Have a SAFE and HAPPY Labor Day holiday!
