the break
Thanksgiving Success!
I had a lovely Thanksgiving and I hope you guys did too. We did a pot luck with Keith’s family. Everyone was in charge of bringing something and I had to bring sweet potato casserole. And when I need a dish to impress I always go to the one place that is full proof and never lets me down: Mom. Once again she delivered:
We also took some family pictures. My sweet little family. I love them!
And now I am enjoying my last day of relaxation before heading back to work tomorrow. I am SUPER excited to be going back to work. I have missed my kids! But I also loved this week of vacation. It felt so good to chill, hang out, not have any work responsibilities.
The other thing I did this week was I started seeing an acupuncturist. She is working on my fertility issues. I didn’t say anything but about a month ago I did my first round of clomid and it didn’t exactly work as well as we had hoped. As in it didn’t make me cycle. So I am trying an alternative method before I take any more synthetic drugs. I just want to try it. If it doesn’t help then I will do another (stronger) round of clomid. But acupuncture (as a whole) has an 80% success rate with fertility and it also can be used during pregnancy for preventative measures (which I obviously need). So I am trying it. Keith and I have also decided to start inquiring about adoption and start filling out paperwork. Just to get that process started because I know it can be lengthy. It feels good to have a plan. To be actively doing something, It makes me feel less broken.
I also did a lot of reading this week. Like for fun. One of my favorite authors is Joshilyn Jackson and I read her latest book, A Grown Up Kind Of Pretty.
As usual she did not disappoint. I loved it. I would always suggest any Joshilyn Jackson book if you ever need a good book to get lost in.
So that was my week. Lots of food, family, and books. P-E-R-F-E-C-T.
What did you do?
Sounds like you had a nice break, yay! And, nice to have a plan – Good luck with it all. I found acupuncture relaxing when I did it (for immune system boosts when I was going through chemo).
I really admire you. You aren’t giving up on expanding your family and adoption may be the best thing. You can give a child a loving and wonderful home if you choose to go that route. I’m glad you had the time off from work to spend time with family and focus on yourself for a bit. Keep up the positive vibes. Take care.
oh i am so excited you are trying acupuncture! good for you…..way better that drugs any day. what a great week for you. I get to go back to work tomorrow too 🙂 also i am going to check out that author! xoxoxox
I spent much time with my family and friends eating all kinds of amazing foods! It really was a perfect weekend!!!
I have to check out that author. I have never read anything from her 🙂
Sounds like you had a great holiday break! Y’all make such a cute family 🙂
Ours was the ‘usual’ but oh so nice to not work for so many days. My laptop crashed too so i couldn’t even turn it on ever. Darn. 🙂 Hagan had her baby on Wednesday, almost 3 weeks early b/c of pre-eclampsia! Everyone is okay, but it was a big traumatic. Freaks me out a little though…just realizing we are SO CLOSE!! EEK! I need to fill you in on everything soon. Finally talked to B about everything and of course he was great. 🙂 So doula is booked, haha!
One of my best friends finally adopted a little boy after several miscarriages and rounds of failed IVF. He is the most precious boy and the perfect addition to her family and she cannot imagine her life having turned out any other way.
Good luck on your journey whether it is giving birth to or adopting your very own special baby!!
Now on to check out that book….I need a couple good ones to read.
Sounds like you had a fantastic Thanksgiving. I can imagine how hard this year has been emotionally but you really have a good outlook on life. Life takes us on amazing journeys and however you arrive at having your family complete, that little kid is going to be so lucky and loved! Thanks for sharing your struggles and life with all of us. 🙂
You have the best attitude- good luck with everything, and keep us posted on acupuncture. I’m looking into it for similar reasons. Also, I love Joshilyn Jackson and heard her speak at a book festival. She’s as funny in person as you’d imagine!
I love how you always call us “Keith’s family.” Because you are a total outsider 🙂
