“share my passion”
Last Sunday, Keith decided that we should go mountain biking. I tried to get out of it by using every excuse in the book. Nothing worked. He was determined. You see Keith is an avid mountain biker and is really good and “he wanted to share that passion with me”…seriously he used that line.
He’s good. Really good.
So we loaded up our bikes, packed helmets, gloves and water and set out.
We started out on a relatively flat stretch of land to break me in (or rather to break my ho-ha in…ladies you totally get that, right?) We started heading to some minor technical rocks. (Truth? “Minor” might even be too strong of a word) But I am a newbie. I started going over some rocks and started to wobble. I panicked a little. And started tipping. And down I went.
I remember laying face first on the rocks completely sprawled out. I can only imagine how funny (and pathetic) I must have looked. And to Keith’s credit he never laughed. He just picked me up, dusted me off and gave me some tips. Then off we went.
4 days later my poor little leg still looked like this:
But nothing more serious than some bruising. (thank goodness) But I did it. I shared Keith’s passion aaaaand I feel like I shared it enough to get me by for a while. 😉
Have you ever been mountain biking?
Do you and your significant other share the same exercise passion?
Well, your legs look badass, at least.
My significant other doesn’t have much exercise passion, so not really. Although for some reason, he’s been into playing tennis lately, so I’ve been trying to make myself like it because it is some form of exercise. Problem is, we are really, really bad.
Ha! It’s obviously not your passion but good for you for giving it a go! I wouldn’t enjoy mountain biking either. It just seems too uncomfortable. Your poor legs. At least now you can get him to do what you want next time 😉
Oh my gosh, I was just talking about this situation with how Tony is good at mountain biking and whenever I used to go with him, I saw more of my body on the ground than I did of my body on the bike! I was a bruised mess! I hope your legs heal fast! Ouch!
Riding on flat roads terrifies me. I shuddered when I read the word rocks.
Hey at least you got back up and kept going! Not sure I would do the same… 😉 Ever since Nate started working for this company, his workout drive has disappeared. Definitely not the same exercise fanatic that I met 5 years ago. It’s super hard for me because no matter how busy or stressed I am, I always make time for the gym…because I truly enjoy it! Nate, on the other hand, just wants to lay on the couch when he gets home. To be fair, his job is incredibly stressful. Other guys in his field are probably in their 40s and Nate is only 25. So, guess I should give him a break 😉 Happy Friday!!!
I’ve owned a mountain bike before but never actually went mountain biking (if that makes any sense). Hey, at lease you gave it a shot!!
And my husband doesn’t share my passion for fitness but that doesn’t stop me from bothering him until he works out with me. 🙂
hahaha Keith used a pretty good argument too, how could you have sait no to that?
The bruises make you look pretty hardcore though . . . so theres that. 🙂
Travis and I have different exercise routines, but both love hiking and the outdoors so that’s where we meet in the middle. I’ve never tried mountain biking, but I’m sure I would be terrified the whole time. Very proud of you that you tried it, battle wounds are a badge of honor;)
I’ve never been mountain biking but I’ve gone trail running a few times and the last two times left me with either a swollen foot or being stung by some insect I can’t even describe the pain of. You’re a good wifey for going 🙂
You’re a better wife than I am. If I had to “share Ryan’s passion” it would mean going to lots of Batman movies and reading comic books. NO THANKS!! 🙂
i think james and keith need to go ride together. Then we can go hike. I’ve been in your shoes before and fallen. ya, not good. LOL
