Confession: I am not digging Dexter. We’ve almost finished season 1 and it just isn’t working for me.

Tell me it is going to get better!

We started watching Dexter sometime last year, and we have completely caught up. To be honest, I am not looking forward to the new season. It was a good show, but it was still creepy. We just started watching True Blood, and I honestly am feeling the same way. They keep leaving me with something that makes me want to watch the next episode, but I don’t end the show feeling all happy and giddy, just kind of creeped out.

I think if you’re already to the end of the season and you aren’t into it, you are never going to be. sorry!

i can’t remember if you told me that you watched 6 feet under or not. best show ever!

I’ve never watched the show so I cannot help. 😦 And I didn’t forget about your bracelet! I’m out of stamps and every day came home after the post office closed. Boo. I’m hoping we get let out early today. 🙂

Kelly I love that show — I was hooked after 1-2 episodes!

  5. September 2, 2011 7:56 am

I’ve only seen about half of season 1 and then I stopped… it was okay.. nothing that kept me coming back, I guess 😦

It’s my favorite show, possibly ever… but I loved Season 1 right away, so if you’re not in to it yet, I have a feeling it’s just not gonna happen for you.

I think (or know) that my all time favorite show is Felicity. Love.

      • September 3, 2011 2:37 am

ok well I LOVE felicity and i LOVE dexter. wonder what that says about me?!

kind of agree with jess–i was hooked after about 2 episodes.

If you have Netflix, Felicity is on the Instant Queue (Streaming) seasons 1-3. That’s how I spent my Labor Day weekend. I watched Dexter season 1-5 this summer and I think you will probably start to like it a bit more in season 2 when it gets more interesting and comes in to it’s own.

The best show is Breaking Bad on AMC. The show leaves me speechless which is very hard to do! It is so well done. The camera shots are insane.

Really?! You don’t like it? That makes me sad. I think though if you’re not into after season 1, you probably won’t be. I liked it right away.

  9. September 2, 2011 9:13 am

I watched half an episode and it just didn’t do it for me. Its too creepy.

  10. September 2, 2011 9:37 am

I couldn’t get into Dexter either!!

  11. September 2, 2011 12:21 pm

I watched 2 episodes and am not sure either. I think if you’ve seen an entire season, you probably just aren’t into it. I love True Blood, but it’s pretty out there too. Have you read those books? I think you’d like that series too (after you re-tackle HP of course)! I’m glad you think Divergent sounds good – I have it from the library for another week and am thinking about re-reading it. I also just started Sarah’s Key which is about Jews in Paris being sent to Concentration Camps. I’m about 1/4 of the way into it and think it’s amazing!

Hilary gave me Sarah’s Key and I am saving it for the plane ride to London but I have heard awesome things about it. Everyone who has read it says it is fantastic. I am also taking The Help with me.

      • September 2, 2011 9:00 pm

I’m glad you have a 2nd book b/c Sarah’s Key seems somewhat short to me (it’s less than 300 pages) and I read like 70 pages while getting a pedicure…so it probably won’t take you too long to read it. I think you’ll love The Help too (and it’s a long one – ha). Can’t wait to hear what you think!!

        • September 2, 2011 9:40 pm

The Help is SO good. I didn’t plan on reading it and didn’t think i would like it. But it’s actually witty, funny – but serious and heartfelt as well. Like a modern twist during an older era.

I’m with you on Dexter…and honestly a lot of those popular shows like Breaking Bad, True Blood, Mad Men…but to be fair, I haven’t watched them much. Somehow something *stupid* like Big Brother comes on my TV instead…;)

It is FANTASTIC! Some parts are very hard to read, but it’s geat. Sorry you aren’t into Dexter. I guess we have a sick sense of entertainment 🙂 True Blood is another of my faves and it’s definitely on the disturbing side, too.

  12. September 2, 2011 12:41 pm

I couldn’t stay awake during the first show… was my sign that it wasn’t gonna happen. Glad I’m not the only one that didn’t care for it.

    • September 2, 2011 1:08 pm

It moves sooooo slow. Maybe that’s my issue I am way too hyper for Dexter.

  13. September 2, 2011 12:54 pm

i’ve never seen it. Is that bad or what? everyone always talks about it. Oh well.

    • September 2, 2011 1:11 pm

I feel like you wouldn’t like it…but if you and James ever do watch it let me know what you think.

  14. September 2, 2011 1:01 pm

OMGosh, I’m coming out of the closet, I couldn’t get through an episode…so not a fan. I thought it was me…but I’ve found my people ; )

  15. September 2, 2011 2:44 pm

IT GETS BETTER!!! TRUST ME. Just wait until Season 4!!!

  16. September 2, 2011 7:20 pm

I watched the first few episodes of Dexter and hated it. Then, a year later, I watched them again (not sure why) and LOVED it. Different mind set, maybe?

  17. September 2, 2011 10:23 pm

I like Dexter a lot. It seems that I like one season…..then LOVE the next season….back to like the next…and so on. I believe he doesn’t really get with Rita until Season 2 though and it’s better. The season with John Lithgow (season 4 I think?) is the absolute best though. Just skip to that season and call it good. 🙂

Oh and Felicity was a great show. 🙂

Keith loves it so I know I will stick with it and watch it with him.

  18. September 3, 2011 8:07 pm

LOVE Dexter! I guess thats how I feel about Mad Men-I just dont get the hype about it.

  19. September 4, 2011 10:41 am

Oh my gosh I love Dexter! He’s so cute and the show’s pretty funny. But I did kind of lose interest around season 4.. 3…? Not sure.
    🙂

Ahhh- you have to stick it out- I LOVE it!! One of my absolute favorite shows.
