who is my team now?

April 3, 2012

Now that Peyton Manning has signed with the Denver Broncos people ask me all the time if I am still an Indianapolis Colts fan or am I going to be a Broncos fan now?

Basically, am I a true Colts fan or a true Peyton fan?

Throughout last season I maintained that I was a Colts fan first. I also sincerely thought there was no way that Irsay was going to actually cut Peyton Manning.

Peyton Manning does not get cut.

I even teared up during his press conference when he was formally being released from the team.

Well the truth hurts. {Keith is loving this…he is just waiting to say I TOLD YOU SO!}

I am a Peyton Manning fan first and a Colts fan second.

There I said it.

I OWN IT.

What does this mean?

It means that I will root for the Colts all season long and I will also root for the Broncos.

And when push comes to shove…I would root for Denver to be better than Indy.

I will always be a Peyton Manning fan no matter where he plays.

Here’s to the 2012 season. I hope Peyton takes it all the way!

When it comes to your team do you identify with that certain team or a certain player on that team?

the hunger games review

April 2, 2012

Last night I went and saw The Hunger Games with Allena, Rhonda and Dez.

First I was school girl excited about seeing this movie. Of all three books, book 1 was always my favorite so I had high hopes for the movie.

My verdict? The movie was really well done and followed the book nicely. It was suspenseful even though I knew exactly what was going to happen! I will probably see it again at some point with Keith.

But I want to talk casting.

First, I am going to be the lone voice of descent when I say that I LOVE Kristen Stewart as Bella in the Twilight Series and I know there has been lots of drama about Jennifer Lawrence being a much better main character in the female title role. Truth? I kinda wanted to not like her and found reasons to at first. She is too tall. She isn’t who I pictured when reading the books. But I will admit, in the end, she got me. I loved her as Katniss Everdeen.

Peeta. Meh. Didn’t like him the books; don’t like him the movie. I am most definitely on Team Gale. Rhonda said it right last night when she said she always felt like Katniss was forcing herself to love Peeta but that her first true love was Gale. Totally.

And Gale?

Um…yeah. Loved him. I can’t wait for movies 2 and 3 where he has a much bigger role.

Overall…I loved it. They captured the Districts. The Capital, and The Hunger Games Arena. It was really a good movie! Go see it. Even if you haven’t read the books.  Although the books are teen lit and would take you like 5 minutes to get through. 🙂

Now I am just anxiously awaiting 2013 for movie 2!

“May the odds be ever in your favor.”

Are you Team Peeta or Team Gale?

true story

March 30, 2012

I am really bad at locking my car doors. Like really bad and it drives Keith crazy.

Especially since I drive a car that has notoriously been on the most stolen car list for like the last 10 years running.

So.

I come out from the grocery store and see my car. I start walking towards it loaded down with bags because I am that person who sees how many bags she can possibly fit on her arms as to avoid dragging that dang cart all the way into the parking lot.

Yeah that’s me.

Anyway, I get to my car and open the back door while struggling not to drop about 4 bags. I get the door open, silently cursing in my head about why don’t I just bring a stupid cart to my car. I get everything loaded in the backseat, walk around to the front. Get in and instantly realize….

Holy SH@T!!!! This isn’t my car!

This car (exactly like mine) was parked right next to me. I looked left and saw my car silently laughing at me.

I jumped out, ran around to the backseat trying to frantically gets my bags out of the stranger’s car while simultaneously looking over my shoulder to see if the owner was coming.

Omigsosh. Omigosh. Omigosh. Hurry up was all I could think.

I ran around the car to my car, opened my back door threw everything in (at this point not caring that I had fragile merchandise) hopped in my driver’s side and got the hell out of dodge.

I was shaking.

Of course Keith found it hysterical.

“Now if you would only lock your doors….”

Huh. Well apparently nobody locks their doors anymore.

Serious grocery store fail.

I still feel like I was on hidden camera or something.

pasta with sweet potato sauce

March 29, 2012

I made a recipe last night that was pretty stellar. Amazing really.

Not to brag or anything.

Okay okay, yes to brag. It isn’t often that I get in the kitchen with just a vague idea of how I want something to turn out and then in fact it does.

After grabbing my favorite lunch yesterday I wanted something different for dinner.

And carby. Me want carbs? Shocker.

But even this carb meal made the husband smile. As a self-proclaimed meat-a-tarian that was huge. (And okay he miiiiiight have added chicken to his but it still wasn’t the normal meaty dinner he would pack into his belly.)

Pasta with Sweet Potato Sauce

Serves 6

1 package of pasta (any shape)

1 small onion, chopped

2 Tbsp butter

2 cups almond milk

2 sweet potatoes

1/2 cup parmesan cheese

1 cup frozen peas

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Peel potatoes and chop into similar size pieces. Place in boiling in water until potatoes are tender. When done, drain and mash roughly with a fork.

Bring another large pot of water to boil. Salt. Add pasta when water is boiling and cook to doneness. Drain. Keep warm.

Saute a chopped onion in butter until brown and carmelized.

Into a blender add onion, parmesan cheese, sweet potatoes, and almond milk. Puree until smooth.

Toss with pasta. Add peas and mix together.

Serve.

Try not to lick the remaining sweet potato sauce from the blender. Try really hard. If you succeed. You’re better than me.

 Oh this was good.

Like reallllllllllllllllllly good.

Try it.

Tonight.

Please?
